German Christmas Market Bristol 2001

The German Christmas Market or "Weihnachtsmarkt" will be held this year on the Centre Promenade, central Bristol.

Bristol, November 16 th to December 23 rd 2001

The Market:

For this event, there will be a traditional, romantic German-style Christmas market with 30 stands. Every stand will be a solid log-cabin style wooden hut, which will be beautifully embellished with Christmas decorations by the individual traders. Mulled wine, gingerbread, food specialities, craft products, Christmas tree and household decorations and articles suitable as presents will be on offer, not to mention delicious food and drink from Germany. Scattered Christmas trees, 'Santa Claus', hanging decorations and Christmas music will add to the atmosphere.

The Market Place:

1. Right in the heart of Bristol City centre, around the modern water feature on the Centre Promenade at Broadmead. Surrounded by the shops and restaurants of Harbourside, within a short walk of the yacht harbour and just opposite the Hippodrome night club. This is the first time that a German Christmas Market has been presented at this venue, in previous years it has been at Castle Park and on a smaller scale. On the 16th of November the first phase of the market will start with 10 stalls. This is part of Bristol City Councils Christmas lighting-up ceremony on the 17th. The main market starts on the 26th with many more stalls. Opening times are from 10am to 8pm every day including weekends. For further details of this event, and pictures of last year's market, please see www.german-christmas-market.co.uk.
